Store owner refuses to refund parents after 13-year-old made secret cellphone purchase, “Can’t tell he’s underage”

Madam Zhou’s son bought a 2200RMB phone to play games with. She found out when tidying his bed. Madam Zhou feels that his son is still a student and underage, therefore the phone should not have been sold to him. She went to ask for a refund but was rejected on the basis that the store owner was not aware that her son was underage. Madam Zhou insists that when an underage enters their store to buy things, the store owner has to see if the underage is accompanied by parents. After much discussion, the store owner eventually refunded Madam Zhou 2000RMB

1. [+15k] Supporting the store owner. Elementary school kids these days have phones already. You can actually get a refund just because the customer is underage? Seriously the rules of the unreasonable ones

2. [+9752] This has nothing to do with being underage or not. One is willing to buy and another is willing to sell. This is an unreasonable parent. You can’t even handle your own child well and you’re blaming the store owner. What a rascal. In future, can shopping malls ban underage from entering? It’s not like phones are things like cigarettes and beer that children cannot purchase. The store owner is under no obligation to ask anything

3. [+3944] The store owner is pretty nice to refund. You must understand that it’s not easy to sell even one phone

4. [+2963] A contract of sale that doesn’t have full civil capacity is a contract in which the effect is still put on hold. It’s only effective when a parent has consented. You can consent within a month. But since the new phone was used, the seller shouldn’t refund the full price, isn’t it?

5. [+2416] If you don’t give your kid so much money, he wouldn’t be able to buy. You gave a kid over 2k therefore he has the rights to buy something over 2k

6. [+1814] If you don’t want your child playing with his phone, you can give it to a family member. Asking for a refund is unreasonable. Trash! I’m done verifying (that this is a trash)

7. [+1194] I never knew that there’s a rule stating that you can’t sell things to an underage

8. [+120] [doge] This mum is a little... the main point isn’t 2200, it’s that the child wants to play games. Should you not guide him to not play games instead? Disallowing him to buy phones will make him go to Internet cafes, will you then be happy? The money is refunded to you now, has your child stopped wanting to play games? [doge]
